In Take Control for Kinect, the player counters substance cues through active movements (hitting, kicking, etc.) The motion-based game enhances the player’s sense of power over substance-related cues by using motions incompatible with substance use and visually seeing their success in combating addictive substances.


Value Proposition:

Substance misuse is a common problem in US society and is causing great harm to millions of Americans. Those in need of treatment may not be able to find success with traditional methods provided by addiction treatment centers or providers. Therefore, new approaches are needed to counteract the growing problem of addiction in our society. Integrating a motion-controlled virtual reality (VR) game into the clinic environment can potentially enhance treatment by providing patients a more active approach to their addiction recovery efforts.
